I heard this is what Krugman uses to generate most of the charts in his blog: http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/

I THINK Fred is a combination database of US economic data and system of generating charts. If there’s a user friendly front end, I think having accurate economic charts could really raise the discourse on whitehouse2

This could work for WhiteHouse2, but it needs i think to be a more generic site linking tool if done, because other uses of the system would likely need linking to different datasources.
